As children, my sister and I would always look forward to Sunday morning breakfast. Every Sunday before church we would run downstairs to find Dad standing at the island, a folded kitchen towel over his arm and a splendidly horrible French accent. It was Chef Andre! Every Sunday the kitchen was turned into Andre’s Bistro, and Chef Andre himself would take our breakfast orders! We knew we could order anything we could imagine, and the house favorites were French Toast Lady Fingers, Mickey Mouse Pancakes, and Oatmeal Sundaes. But the most ordered breakfast item of all time, was Andre’s Scones. Light, flakey, buttery triangles of pastry Heaven, traditionally made with dark chocolate and cranberries, sprinkled with coarsely ground sugar, hot and fresh out of the oven. It was a Sunday staple in Andre’s Bistro!
Even into our teen years, although Andre had retired from the Bistro.. Scones were still made on Sunday morning. His recipe was so loved that when my husband and I got married, Dad gave us a signed copy of the cookbook he’d used and wrote down his special techniques and adjustments on the Scones recipe page. We make Andre’s Scones with our children now and they look forward to every Sunday breakfast. We also offer them in a quite a few flavors here at Specialty Confections! White Chocolate and Orange, Dark Chocolate and Cranberry, Cinnamon Raisin, and Vanilla. Always available as gluten free, low-carb, organic and vegan! You can find scones at many Bakeries, but you can’t find Andre’s scones anywhere but here! I’d love to give out the recipe to this one… but that secret recipe is just between my sister, myself, and the ever so talented…. Chef Andre.
